SM City UrdanetaI don't know if the information on this document still holds true since it's a bit old and was published prior to SM's acquisition of properties in Rosales, Pangasinan & Dagupan City. This is a snapshot of SM Prime's 2003 Annual Report which has SM City Urdaneta tagged as a site for development. I hope this plan hasn't been scrapped because of SM Supercenter Rosales being nder construction. It would be such a waste if it doesn't push through. I hope SM Prime is just using the Rosales Supercenter as a way of "testing the waters" and proceed with the construction of SM City Urdaneta soon after. "SM City Urdaneta"... Music to my ears... SM Prime Holdings 2003 Annual ReportLink: www.smprime.com/uploads/files/InvestorRelations-7_File-52_SMPHIAR03.pdfLocationFor those who do not know yet, the SM City Urdaneta lot is a 15+ hectare lot located in Brgy Anonas midway between the New City Hall/Livestock Market & the Universities/Colleges. The lot is fenced with barbed wires and a caretaker looks after it. Here are pics of the property. The first one is from google maps and the other two pics I took myself. It's SM Prime's 2006 Annual Report. The latest posted in the site: Link: www.pse.org.ph/html/ListedCompanies/pdf/2007/SMPH_17A_Apr2007.pdfSM has properties in Urdaneta & Dagupan Cities as well as Rosales, the one under construction. Urdaneta is the biggest of the three properties although Dagupan is not that far behind. The Cabanatuan property is almost twice the size of Urdaneta's. They probably plan on putting up just one mall in Nueva Ecija. Good Luck to SM Prime on it's attempt at putting up a mall in Dagupan a.k.a. CSI Country. ;D

Thanks! My friend & I got a chance to talk with the caretaker of the SM lot but he said there was no definite year/date yet given to him by the management as to when SM City Urdaneta will be constructed. Also, SM management visits him & the Urdaneta lot once or twice a month. He also said that the one in Rosales is just a bodega. My interpretation is that it's not a storage warehouse but more like CSI "warehouse" club which is consistent with it being SM Supercenter Rosales where the main anchor is just SM hypermart. I asked him if he thinks SM would still push through with its Urdaneta Mall now that the Rosales mall is under construction and he said he thinks it will because "nasa Urdaneta ang tao, nandito mga eskwelahan".I'll try to recall our conversation and post more details here. Maybe a transcript of it.

:)You really are on standy sa SM Urdaneta ha. I think SM will help the economy also. Balitaan mo pa kami ha?

Hi Malou, No problem. I take pleasure in collating & presenting all this information to fellow Urdanetans. It's my stress reliever. These aren't really inside info since most of the materials I posted were taken from the SM as well as the Philippine Stock Exchange website. I also think that Urdanetans deserve to be in the loop of things concerning our hometown. I'm all for SM City Urdaneta & I must admit I'm ticked off on SM SUPERCENTER Rosales. That might take away growth opportunity for our city & it can only be offset by having an SM of our own. A full blown mall. An SM CITY. As for Dagupan, malabo matuloy yung SM dun dahil yung city council nila is comprised mainly of Fernandezes, owners of CSI. I couldn't care less about Dagupan so long as SM City Urdaneta is put up. ;D By the way, bakit "guest" ka? Hindi ka ba maka log-in? Inform mo si The Main Man (Forum Admin) kung may problems ka logging in. Thanks for your interest & reply.

God bless You All in Jesus Christ's name.

Hello paulmarcelo23, Thanks for your reply & interest in SM City Urdaneta. I believe the era of the shoe box-type SM malls is coming to an end. The box type structures were very common when Henry Sy Sr. was still in complete control of SM Prime holdings. Now, that trend seems to be changing. Examples are recently completed malls such as SM City Baguio, Dasmarinas, Sta. Rosa & Clark. SM City Pamapanga & Manila were constructed way before those four other malls I've mentioned. I'm with you. I hope that SM City Urdaneta will have more than just a box type design. Something elegant. Something pleasing to the eye. Sidenote: I think the box type designs are still used for the SM Supercenters (Valenzuela & Pasig). This is true with SM Supercenter Rosales which is already under construction. It's ugly. More on SM City Urdaneta.. More to rant about.I've been told that a small part of the 15+ hectare lot has falsified documents & that's what's causing the delay in the start of construction. I'm not sure who is at fault but I hope the city government is doing everything to iron things out ASAP. SM City Urdaneta is SM Prime's priority but I guess SM couldn't wait to have its presence felt in Pangasinan so they opted to put up SM Supercenter Rosales first. If not for the land title issues, Urdaneta would have had an SM City by now & there would not have been a need for SM Supercenter Rosales. Rosales just got lucky. Screw those who are at fault! Here's a document further confirming SM's intention on putting up it's Urdaneta Mall. I got this from Colliers International. Apparently, SM City Urdaneta was set to be opened in 2004. Source: www.colliers.com/Content/Repo...nwldgapr03.pdfThis is proof that Urdaneta is SM's priority, not Rosales. Duh! It's really disappointing the way things turned out. Again, screw those who messed things up! Urdaneta's future is bright and it could have been even brighter if SM City Urdaneta pushed through four freakin' years ago.

I found this: "SM City Urdaneta is one of the newest SM City Malls and is set to open in Late-2009. It is located at MacArthur Highway, Urdaneta City, Pangasinan."I just got this from wikipilipinas, a Filipino version of wikipedia, so take it for what it's worth. Link: en.wikipilipinas.org/index.php?title=SM_City_UrdanetaI sure hope there is some truth to this and that this guy has a reliable source. [fingers crossed]

^ I agree. SM Baguio could be the best SM Mall design wise. It looks like a fantasy cruise ship at night from the surrounding hilltops.

I agree with silverjaws that it is the best looking SM Mall. It would have been an insult to Baguio had SM built it in their traditional shoe-box concept.
