2 days 100 aspirants 8 for contract signing They had only less than a week to actively promote the Call Center Job Fair thru flyers, banners and even online. But the hiring team of NCO and the GSI staff can now say that the two day event is a resounding success. Wow! Congratulations to the eight Urdaneta applicants who made it! At first I thought the 8 out of 100 passing rate was pretty low but when I read further through the article, I realized that the 8% passing rate is pretty high compared to the success rate of career fairs in other parts of northern luzon at 0 out of 170. (I'm assuming Baguio is excluded from this.) There is no question that our city is a melting pot of talent and is home to some of the brightest people in the country. Ain't that right Main Man? I think this is a good, nay, GREAT first step towards Urdaneta becoming the IT & BPO hub that it should be. It's only a matter of time before call centers are established in our beloved hometown.

Hi Main Man,
I saw your most recent blog: Call Center in Urdaneta
Is this for real? So they chose Urdaneta over Dagupan? The article below is obviously biased towards Dagupan but Urdaneta was mentioned in the last sentence.
Indian firm eyes Dagupan City for call center expansion
By Danny O. Sagun
Dagupan City -- An Indian company is eyeing this city as expansion area for its call center operations.
Representatives of Minacs, a company based in Bangalore, India met with City Mayor Alipio Fernandez, Jr. yesterday to discuss the possibility of establishing a call center in the city. Representatives of the Department of Trade and Industry and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority also attended the meeting.
The group also visited the various colleges and universities in the city for the possible hiring of agents.
It was gathered that call center agents earlier recruited from Pangasinan are now working in Manila and other places where the operations of the call center companies are based. About 700 were said to have been recruited from the province, according to Tesda.
The upper floors of the new Malimgas market on Galvan street was earlier reported as an ideal site for call center operations because of wide space.
The Indian company is also eyeing Urdaneta City for its expansion plans, it was learned. (PIA-Pangasinan)

Hi Tracymack,
It looks like they are eying both locations. In Urdaneta, they are actually also considering both the Urdaneta Public Market and the Sanctuary Building.
Let's wait and see.

This calls for..
Very Nice!!!!
TWO sites in Urdaneta (Market, Sanctuary)? Wow! It's great that a major player in the call center industry recognizes Urdaneta's potential unlike a certain shoe-box-company. ;D
I hope everything goes well and that politics does not get in the way of the establishment of Minacs in Urdaneta.
