There were, 3,808 registered business establishments in 2004.Wherein 3,807 were commercial and one was industrial. Most of the registered establishments were Sari-sari/grocery/variety stores and Eateries/Canteen/Carinderias. There were 39 registered warehouses in Urdaneta, among which are those of the Jaka Group of Companies, Coca-Cola Bottlers Phils. Inc., Pepsi-Coal Products, Eveready Battery, Del Monte Phil., CSI Warehouse Club, Vitarich Corp., Yakult Bio-Tech, Guico Group of Companies, Purefoods, Super Magic/Magic Mall, Lux Marketing, Nestle Phils., Northstar Sales and Promotion Inc., San Miguel Corp. Urdaneta is famous for being a major trading centre for livestock, fruits and vegetables. The “Bagsakan Market” in the Poblacion Area has been tagged as the “Divisoria of the North”. Locally harvested produce as well as those coming from neighboring towns and provinces are likewise traded to such destinations as Benguet,Cagayan, Zambales, Bataan, Bulacan, and Metro Manila.
The Public Market in Poblacion, which was affected by two major fires in 2003 and 2005,is currently being rehabilitated. Upon completion, this will be a state-of the-art market with modern facilities, it will have wet and dry sections as well as retail areas. There will also be a Display Centre to exhibit locals industries and products such as the espasol of Macalong, carabao milk of Tulong, and tinapa of Bayaoas. Another local industry which may be Highlighted in the Display Centre is “Baracbac” weaving,artisans of which may be found in barangays Cayambanan and Nancalobasan.
The new Urdaneta City Cattle Market is now housed at the newly developed site in barangays Anonas, just beside the new city hall. One of the biggest in the country,the livestock Market features ultra-modern facilities. Majority of the livestock traded here come from adjacent towns of Binalonan, Villasis, Sta. Barbara, Mangaldan,Mapandan and from the provinces of Batangas, Mindoro and Masbate. There is also Fish Trading Centre in Barangay Camanang.
Other economic infrastructure facilities include the City Slaughterhouse and the City Cold Storage and Ice Plant, both located in Barangay Anonas. The former hosts complete facilities such as pre-slaughter pens, stunning areas, boiler room, dressing area, etc. to ensure that safe meat are sold in the Market. The latter, in turn, provides facilities for fresh produce and processed food to the residents of the city and neighboring town.
5.2.1 Major Shopping Centers
Several department stores and public markets can be found along the Manila North Road and McArthur Highway. The major shopping centers are the Magic Mall, Super Magic, CSI Warehouse and Balingit Supermarket.
5.2.2 Financial Institutions
A number of baking institutions have settled in Urdaneta to provide financial services to traders and residents in the city and in neighboring towns. As of 2004, there are 24 registered banks operating in the city such as Philippine National Bank, Bank of the Philippine islands, Equitable-PCI Bank, RCBC Savings Bank, etc. (Table 5.12 refers)

5.2.4 Development Needs

Projected Development Needs
The city has to cement its role as the agri-industrial trading center of the province. Aside from improving and expanding its Bagsakan Market, it has to ensure that development of its designated agri-industrial area. Further, the City Government should facilitate the entry of light industries as well as new service and retail commercial establishments to diversify the local economy.

5.3 Tourism
5.3.1 Potential Tourist Spots
The city of Urdaneta may not have beaches, mountains ranges, wild parks or other natural attractions, but it has it share of scenic places. The rolling hills in Cabaruan, Sugcong and Oltama are favorite picnic grounds of residents and civic organizers. The Tanggal Perez Dam and Labit and Bolaoen creeks may also be developed into a recreational fishing grounds as these areas flourish with dalag, carpa and tilapia.
Tourists also visit the city during the annual Urdaneta City Fiesta held on the first week of December. It is a week long celebration line-up with events and festivities such as parades, concerts, singing and dancing competitions, beauty pageants, cultural shows and street parties.
5.3.2 Tourist Stop Over
Urdaneta serves as the favorite stopover because of its strategic location along the North Luzon Tourist Belt. Tourists visiting Baguio City (Summer Capital), Manaoag (Site of the Miraculous Our Lady of Manaoag), Lingayen (Provincial of Pangasinan), and Alaminos (Site of the Hundred Islands) stop by after a long distance travel.
5.3.3 Current Tourist Facilities
Urdaneta takes pride in the Lisland Rainforest resort in San Vicente, Goldland resort in Cyambanan, Patio Olympia and Golden Green Garden resorts in Bayaoas and Woodside in Pinmaludpod. The Urduja Hotel, Majoha Hotel, Town Gate Park inn and Ciudad Fernandino provide tourist accommodation as well as venues for conferences and parties. Major food chains such as Jollibee, KFC and McDonalds, restaurants and grilleries such as Matutina’s and Cocolandia, public markets, supermarkets, the Magic Mall, and other facilities are also available to cater to tourists.
