The scope of urban and regional development is unlimited as there are many ways to explore the strategies to correct the regional imbalances and reduce regional disparity in development. It is better to attempt healthy and sustainable city and regional development by preparing profiles of environmental assessment, identification of critical environmental issues, social dimensions of the city and issues related to urban governance. After identifying these issues, timely action can be taken and newer approaches can be suggested for healthy planned city development. This is a proactive approach to improve the quality of life of the people.

For that to take place, planned development is necessary. However, scores of unique examples exist in different parts of the state, where in the place of dilapidated slums and congested housing colonies, beautiful housing units have sprung up, with the inhabitants having access to quality drinking water and other amenities.
