Thursday, February 14, 2008Urdaneta cops undergo surprise drug testSource: www.sunstar.com.ph/static/pan/2008/02/14/news/urdaneta.cops.undergo.surprise.drug.test.htmlAN ON-the-spot drug testing was implemented last Monday by Urdaneta Police Chief Jimili Macaraeg as part of the station's continuous anti-drug campaign. Of the 104 members including Macaraeg, 70 policemen underwent the surprise drug testing conducted by the Philippine National Police (PNP) Crime Laboratory based in the city. Macaraeg said they would schedule another drug testing for the other Urdaneta policemen who were on duty that day at the police community precincts and traffic areas. Accordingly, the City Government shouldered the P300 drug test fees. The crime laboratory is now processing the urine samples of the policemen. Macaraeg said any policeman found positive of drugs would undergo a validating drug test. Positive result could mean dismissal from the service. The Urdaneta police was the first police station in the province to conduct a surprise drug test. The last on-the-spot drug test was conducted in the city in 2006. ************ Nice! Kudos to Chief Macaraeg for the initiative and the city government for shouldering the testing fees!

Here's a follow up on the results of the drug test. Lagot! ;D Thursday, February 24, 20082 Urdaneta cops found positive of illegal drug use Source: sundaypunch.prepys.com/archives/2008/02/24/2-urdaneta-cops-found-positive-of-illegal-drug-use/#more-8355URDANETA CITY—Two policemen here are in hot water after they proved positive of illegal drug use during a random drug testing last February 12. The drug test conducted by the Regional PNP Crime Laboratory at the Urdaneta City Police Station was initiated by Police Regional Director Chief Superintendent Leopoldo Bataoil. Superintendent Jimili Macaraeg, chief of police of Urdaneta City, did not disclose the names of the two policemen as they are scheduled to take a confirmatory drug test. He, however, said the two policemen are old hands in the Urdaneta Police Station. Police Provincial Director Sr. Supt. Isagani Nerez said the two policemen were already pulled out from Urdaneta and detained in the holding area of the PNP Provincial Office in Lingayen. He said if they turn out positive in the confirmatory test, an administrative case will be filed against them and separated from the service if found guilty. Urdaneta is being tagged by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) as the major drop off point for illegal drugs, specifically shabu, originating from Metro Manila, A syndicate reportedly drops the illegal drugs to their still unknown contacts in Urdaneta before these are distributed to other parts of Pangasinan and the region. Macaraeg denied this.—LM
