Urdaneta was hit directly by typhoon Cosme at signal number 3. Homes along the Macalong river suffered the same fate like the ones in these pictures. Traffic brought about by the floods. Some of these vans would be stalling because of the high flood level. Notice the signage ripped apart by the typhoon Read the entire article and view all pictures here: urdanetacity.blogspot.com/2008/05/typhoon-cosme-wreaks-havoc-in-urdaneta.html

Were there any casualties? I hope not since I haven't heard any report.
I hope the flood subsides real soon. The drainage improvements currently completed are only from the San Vicente to Jollibee stretch of MacArthur Highway and the drainage canals aren't fully operational yet. It will be only after the entire project is completed. Though I do not think this would have completely eliminated the flooding, I would think that the impact would have been to a lesser extent such as lower water level making it easier for people and vehicles to ply the highway.
I hope the city government provides assistance to those gravely affected by the typhoon.

There was one in Urdaneta so far. "...40-year-old Markus Quinto from Urdaneta City died when a camachile tree fell and knocked down his house. He was inside his house. " Entire article here: 'Cosme' kills three in Pangasinan www.abs-cbnnews.com/storypage.aspx?StoryId=118636Also, a neighbor barely escapes it this morning as he accidentally severed a live electric cable with his bolo. He is fine except for a minor scratch.

This is very unfortunate. A single casualty is one too many, IMO.
Condolences to Mr. Quinto's family. May he RIP.
To those who got injured or sick because of the typhoon, hope you have speedy recovery.

Urdaneta allots P5 M for farm aid, repair of school buildings www.mb.com.ph/PROV20080618127595.html Fa Sizon AlmazanURDANETA CITY – Urdaneta City Mayor Amadeo R. Perez Jr. said that the city council held a special session last Friday and approved the appropriation of P5 million from the city’s calamity fund for the repair of public school buildings and financial assistance to farmers whose farms were damaged by typhoon "Cosme." Mayor Perez said that the city government needs some P5 million for the repair of the devastated schoolhouses and for the grant of financial assistance to farmers whose crops were destroyed by the typhoon. "Malaki ang halagang kailangan ng syudad para ayusin ang mga silid-aralan na nasalanta ng bagyong ‘Cosme’ dito. Gayun din kailangang tulungan ang mga magsasaka na nasiraan ng mga pananim dulot ng bagyo," Perez said. The city mayor said that many pupils will hold classes in the library, under trees and in rooms together with other school children while the repair is being done. He said, however, that classes in this city will continue despite the shortage of classrooms caused by typhoon "Cosme." He said that the city government will exert efforts to undertake immediate repair of the damaged classrooms Mayor Perez also said that the Department of Education has also allocated some P8 million for the repair of the damaged public school buildings. He said that the repair of the classrooms is being given priority for the convenience and safety of the pupils in public schools in the city. "I believe education is very important for all, and this is the best way to success," the mayor said.
